We’ve got so much amazing news to share and lots to look forward to this June!

The National Lottery Reaching Communities

We are absolutely delighted to share some incredible news for our community. Thanks to the amazing support of the National Lottery Community Fund, our charity has been awarded £107,569 over the next three years. This funding supports our Live Well: Building Healthier, Happier, More Connected Communities project in the Live Well Hub and beyond, helping us to deliver more workshops, support groups and 1-2-1 support and welcome another healthcare professional to our team. We are now accepting applications for a Community Cancer Support Nurse/Allied Healthcare Professional.

Postcode Neighbourhood Trust

Just over a week after we heard from the Community Fund, we received some more fantastic news! We couldn’t believe it when our friends at Postcode Neighbourhood Trust got in touch to let us know that they have awarded £50,000 over three years. This funding is incredible for our charity, helping us continue to offer individual and group support from the Live Well Hub and elsewhere in North Tyneside and beyond. A supporter of our charity almost since the very beginning, Postcode Neighbourhood Trust continues to help us provide support to people affected by cancer in our community.

Paw Pack

We’d like to say a massive thank you to the Paw Pack for raising an incredible £3,468 with their Marathon Coastal Walk. We were delighted to thank Holly in person, and we’re grateful to Anna for nominating us. These funds will make a huge difference to our charity and everyone who benefits from our services.

Live Well Lads

It was great to host our first two Live Well Lads sessions for men who have had a cancer diagnosis and get some ideas for future sessions at the Live Well Hub and elsewhere in North Tyneside and beyond. A dartboard, lawn bowels and historical walks are top of the agenda! Thank you to Macmillan Cancer Support for funding Live Well Lads. Any man who has received a cancer diagnosis can join us for our next session at 1:30pm on 16th June at the Live Well Hub.

Catwalk Cabaret

Members of the Live Well Lads will be taking the stage for our Catwalk Cabaret with our first ever Geordie Striptease! We can’t wait to celebrate the big night with our community at the Village Hotel on 20th June. Tickets may be sold out, but you can still support the event and our charity by buying tickets to our raffle.

Live Well with Healthy Habits

Ben has had the pleasure of hosting Live Well with Healthy Habits in person and online, starting with our Live Well Masterclass on 23rd April.

It was lovely to see so many people learning how to live well with healthy habits and enjoy classes on Tai Chi, silk painting and compassion.

Healthwatch Northumberland hosted a webinar on Live Well with Cancer’s services.

Sage welcomed Ben into their North Tyneside office for a staff volunteer day.

The VODA team welcomed Ben into their office for a Live Well with Healthy workshop

We will be hosting our second Live Well Masterclass from 10-2pm on 19th September. Please email transformation@livewellwithcancer.co.uk to register for your place.

Live Well Writers

From June 16th, Live Well Writers will be running weekly from 10am to 1pm downstairs in the Live Well Hub. Thank you to National Lottery Community Fund, The Barbour Foundation and Catherine Cookson Charitable Trust for your support.

Beyond the Diagnosis

We’ve been pleased to share stories from our community with our Beyond the Diagnosis blog. Our latest was written by our Founder & CEO, Maureen Elliott, who reflected on 30 years in cancer care and why post-cancer support still feels like a postcode lottery.
